So what do you think of mLan?
« on: June 19, 2004, 09:20:11 PM »

Hello there,

I just was curious how you guys think about the mLan. Pherhaps you don't know what it stands for you might interested to know it's a connection type for digital audio using just one cable.
(In google the #1 link prolly will be http://www.mlancentral.com)

For those who do know this. Have you seen or worked with this gear? If so what do you think about this? Just a little curious that is.

Well, cool idea. Has been the last ten years or so. Not many products use it.

Presonus dit put out a product called Firestation using mLan, and a lot of people seems to have had a lot (and I mean a lot) of problem with the mLan part of that box. This is only the actual implementation in that case, the idea may still be very sound (which I do believe). But I guess most of us are not buying ideas but trying to get things that actually work.

So, as far as I am concerned I have no hurry buying my first mLan product. If I had one already, it might be different. The idea of connecting things virtually on the mLan bus is really nice.

Hurried half assed implementation, good in theory, horrible in practice.

A true Yamaha product in all senses!  Laughing
