sample rates
« on: June 16, 2004, 04:35:23 PM »

What sample rates do you guys/gals normally record @? I currently record @ 44.1/24, but I just recently purchased an Apogee AD16x so I am trying to decide if I should move up in resolution to get greater quality. The thing that baffles me though, is why would I record anything above 44.1k when most of my work goes to CD? Anything above that just seems frivolous since I will have to dither down in the end. Just curious.

I do quickie work at 16/44 but 24/44 is where I'm at now. 16/48 doesn't give me much of a leap over 16 or 24/44 for me to bother.

24/96 has been used a couple times in the shop but the difference wasn't enough for most projects to go there.
