I had read on wiki that he had written songs under his wife's name, to avoid contractual entanglements. I wondered how often this was the case back when the record companies had strangleholds on the dogies in the corral.

Similar action by the Traveling Wilburys. I love that they changed their aliases between "Volume 1" and their followup album ... "Volume 3".
