I was wondering if anyone has had experience using the AK47 Telefunken RTF mic.
I'd be very interested to know which preamps are recommended as a great match for this particular microphone.

Application: male vocal ( mine ) in pop music and/or classical musical genres.
I've chosen the AK47 mic because I love how it sounds with my voice, nothing edgy to it at all, it seems to smooth out the things I didn't like to hear.
I've been using a 737 Avalon ( got it because I love Lisa Gerrard's vocals and this is what she uses. ). I like the 737 because it doesn't seem to alter the sound much. But I feel like I'm missing something, a presence or something that I think another pre will give me. I believe a Solid State sound might be a better choice for me.
Any recommendations?

Budget: up to $2000. Less is better!
Here's what I've listened to so far:
Portico: too coloured for my application
Millenia: seemed too clean for my application
Great River: I didn't like the 'forwardness' of this pre at all
A-designs Pacifica: a bit too saturated and too bright for me
UA 610: nice but there was a little bit of an edge I believe
Any recommendations from those who have used or know the mic well?
Thanks in advance
