At least that's what these scientists found out.  Unpeeling Scotch tape emits X-Ray pulses strong enough to take images.

I've noticed that some adhesive tapes give visible flashes of light when peeled off, but didn't realise they could produce high energy stuff like X-rays. Scary.

What they call "superficial X-Rays" can occur above just 20kV.

This is why the post office will not allow packages to be wrapped with duct tape, a postal worker explained that the removal of the tape is used to detonate explosives...
