I would like to make a few questions to you folks who have these products in your chain...
a) I have asked a friend to build a HPF for my Pendulum OCL2 sidechain. What is the frequency range you guys most use such a device for? 20 / 30 /40 / 60 /90, too high? ( I am aware it is program dependent)
b) After carefully examining my units I realized it was not my Hedd 192 who had a problem, but the XLR inputs of my OCL2 which are going to be serviced this week. I was using it mostly thru P10 inputs, before the Hedd arrived last month. The Hedd 192 ditched my 02R96 a/d d/a.
So... b.1) Why in fact is the Pendulum unbalanced? seems most mastering gear is balanced.
b.2) Must I take any additional care for gain staging the Hedd > OCL2 (unbal)> Ibis EQ? I remember Brad commenting he never makes up gain with the OCL2.
c) Combining Hedd 192 Colour buttons and Ibis Colour function:
I have been having some fun using these functions.
Maybe it is because is a new toy, but using the buttons at 3-4 seems fine.
c.1)How frequently do you guys engage the Triode-pentode-tape?
c.2) Is it somewhat redundat using the Ibis Colour and any of the Hedd colour functions?
c.3) I have preferred applying the Colour section at the a/d.
I myself prefer using the OCL2 before the IBis. Sometimes I apply a slight Pre-ed inside the daw.
Just wanted to have some thoughts of yours.
