haha i actually knew a kid that made an entire album (13 songs)using badly timed drum loops, an acoustic/electric, and a radioshack mic through a soundblaster in a pirated version of acid. twas sad because he actually convinced some highschool kids to buy it. claimed it was the future of acoustic punk rawk.

Well, i knew the same kid, well sort of, at least a guy that did the same thing, altough this guy used:
-himself
-cool edit pro.
-A GM sound bank
-A gut string guitar with 25 year old steel strings on it, not tuneable.
I later broke one of the strings at a party, now its unusable...
His microphone closet:
-OK II ("proffesional dynamic microphone" not kidding -costed $3!!)
-A small koss headset wich he used as microphone before his big investment above.
- 16-bit soundblaster card(he tought for some reason that he had to go via an MD player also)
-A ghettoblaster for monitors.
I did the mastering.....

Quoting national newspapers over here:
"genious", "visionary", "tom waits on acid"
Raving reviews all over the place, A-listed on all the college radio stations in this country.....
Didn't sell much tough.....
BTW, We've just finished his next album, wich is 15 songs, 15musicians recorded in two days in one room. Microphone standard improved slightly, but only slightly- most expensive mic. this time was an RE-20 for the vocals....
