I strongly suspect that the idiocy from Clear Channel is designed to intimidate bands and engineers into refraining from pursuing same-night CDs. It's ridiculously clear that they will not be able to defend their claims about this patent in court (by "claims" I mean the stuff they've been saying in public, as opposed to the actual content of the patent itself). However, as many have posted, how many bands/people out there have the $$$ to challenge Clear Channel?
More interesting: with Clear Channel's monopolistic dominance of concert venues, what touring band is going to be foolhardy enough to challenge them, even if they have the $$$ to do so? Clear Channel might well freeze them out of the best venues in a number of towns across the country.
