Who has a liquid cooled Powermac G5 ??? !!!!!
« on: September 01, 2008, 01:06:26 PM »

Hey guys my liquid cooled G5 2.7 recently blew up
This computer was not even 3 years old
It had been showing very strange behavior for months
after dealing with Apple and getting absolutely NO help in finding or solving the problem
I had to look to other outside techs
and through research
I have found some VERY disturbing information

Liquid cooled G5 2.5 and 2.7's are time bombs
If your computer has
a fan that is running away wildly or has shown power problems like just shutting off
you can see some kind of goo coming out the back
or it won't restart consistently
and other weird problems
You very well might
have a leaking coolant and your computer is on the way out

This is really crazy but I will post on the bottom many many links
and I want you guys to check it out
Why Apple has not made these problems COMMON knowledge is beyond me
I am very disturbed here about this

If you know you have a liquid cooled dual G5
then TAKE heed
this is one step away from a class action lawsuit

please let me know if you are one of the unfortunate because I am about to try to get to some of the higher ups in Apple and
let them know that this is NOT OK

Interesting post - I just got one of these, the dual 2.7G, secondhand, and it seems fine (so far?) and my local tech says he has never had one come in with problems...

I'l look at your links and hope it is fine!

I love OS X, and have really loved Macs in general, software-wise, but they really leave something to be desired on the hardware at times in the exact same type of situations you describe.

In my case, cracking on the Macbook where the lid meets the bottom case is a known problem... when I realized this, well within exchange period, I tried to exchange but they gave me the run-around saying I could come in any time, and it would not be a problem getting a new one on. Well, I was at the Apple store last week, (trying to get the crack fixed for the SECOND go 'round... a giant waste of time) and they were about as unhelpful as possible and even had the audacity to claim liquid damage on my computer as a reason for not placing the lid (my computer is fine, and I am typing this right now on it).

If you were to google this, you would see that tons of other people are having the same problem as me.... just as tons of people are having the same problem you have with your model.

It really pains me to say that, because I take a lot of joy in doing little software projects in Apple, am into the Developer program stuff, and truly loathe working in XP or Vista.
