Budget Monitors
« on: August 20, 2008, 11:40:41 PM »

I am looking for a pair of half decent near field monitors. I have been recommended the M-Audio BX8A's. I also have my eye on a pair of Alesis M1 active MK2's.

If anyone has used either of them, any comments will be greatly appreciated. Also, any other suggestions are welcome. My budget is about

Can you get a listen to a Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1 system?  Retails over here for about $700.

Save a little more money and get something better or get used ones. Monitors are too important to be on a budget.
A step above your budget would be Dynaudio BM5A or KS-digital C5 Tiny

I love my Wharfdale's they are the 8.1s or the 8.2s.  The low end is not boomy and the mids and highs are as accurate as you are gonna get in this price range.  Plus they do not fatigue my ears.

Just my opinion

Event is discontinuing the Studio Precision line and you can pick up a pair of ASP-8's for right around $750 right now, while they last.

I kinda second the Wharfedale 8.2 monitors as a low cost solution to monitors.  They don't have a lot of obvious peaks, and they're usually available at a very low price.  You could do a lot worse at a much higher price.

That's a steal. Great monitors.

I'm using the Event SP-8s and I love them.  Alot of adjustments on the rear.  The highs can be a bit shrilly though IMO.

Sad to hear that they're being discontinued as alot of R&D went into them.
