Low Notes Mallet Sounds ( marimba , vibraphone , etc )
« on: March 15, 2010, 12:51:52 PM »

Need great bass mallet tones . Clear sounding Marimbas ( or similar wood type instrument ) &  vibraphones that  have no dominant overtones .

Know of a great "mallet only" sample set ?
24bit would rock . Thank you .

Well, I have a set of Musser vibes, so I was hoping from the subject line that I could share some insights on how to record them. As for samples, this may seem lo-fi and primitive, but the most useful ones I've ever heard came from the Akai S3000 stock library.

The label's budget is very tight so it's basically all VI's . The mallet sounds in the mid & upper ranges are pretty good . I've tried about 10 different things , (synths & VI's)the low mallet sounds are generally too muddy or distant sounding so far .
