That's retarded....i'm a huge Stooges fan. Sorry to hear, and i'll put some bulletins out at other places.

Mike's a good guy--I talked to him a bit after a DOS gig about what it was like playing with those guys, he said that it was pretty surreal.

A good friend of mine owns a number of pawn shops here in Calgary, I'll circulate this list to him. They won't dare try to cross the border with this stuff...it's hard enough to get LEGAL gear past those Home Security goons these days.

Camper Van Beethoven got all their gear ripped off in Montreal, too, a few years back.

I'm really sorry to learn of this.

I have to tell you though, if I were managing a tour for any act, I would make it clear to the road crew that someone, either for the whole tour or on a rotating basis, would have to watch the gear at night. If at all possible, I would have someone watching it 24/7 with a cell phone in hand.

Maybe I'm too geeky, but I also know a little bit about electronic surveillance. It's not that hard. Also, why not do something to disable a truck when it's parked? At least throw a club on the steering wheel. I've popped the rotor out of distributors before and taken them with me or hidden them somewhere in the vehicle.

I just think we've read too many of these stories for bands to not start taking extra measures to safeguard their gear.

Anyway, again, I'm really sorry to learn of this. I hope they catch the scum that did this and the band gets their gear back.

Maybe they did have precautions and it still got stolen? There's been vehicle immobilizers on vehicles here and thieves have still got around that and stole the vehicles.

Gotta agree here.  It sucks & I feel for them, but also have to wonder how it could have happened- it's not that hard to prevent these things, or at least put obstacles in the thieve's way.

Sometimes the guard can risk getting stabbed or shot. After all it's just equipment, not life. I wouldn't be surprised if some people on the road considered this and decided to take the risk to get stuff stolen instead of having someone get killed.

No serial numbers. Too busy/famous/lazy/overconfident/insured to be bothered to make a list. Bummer.

Fucking quebec ... the wasteland of Canada.  We go racing in Montreal a couple of times a year, and without fail, someone's car or truck/trailer is stolen.  If you don't have quebec plates, you're a target.  We don't even trust the "security" guards anymore, since they just call up their waste of skin buddies and get a cut of the profits Mad
