ZZ Top vinyl pressings: London vs Warner
« on: July 26, 2008, 05:20:27 PM »

I guess this is a good place to ask: is there a big difference between the London and Warner pressings of the first ZZ Top records? I have the London pressing of Tres Hombres and it sounds very punchy, defined and loud. Recently I got the Warner pressing of Tejas, which I still haven't had the chance to listen to, but I was in doubt if I shouldn't have waited for a copy of the London pressing to pop up. Are they really that different?

I feel that I should answer you, given the ZZ connection, but unfortunately I have never even seen a Warner vinyl of "Tejas."

I do know that only the London vinyls of "Tres" and "Tejas" were mastered "originally," meaning that I was there for the work.  WB versions of those would have been recuts...but may still have been fine.

Thanks Terry. I thought maybe the difference was notorious or something.
