Recently switched to GoDaddy after my previous host left us all out to dry for a few days with no contact.  Pretty happy with them.  By far, the absolute best customer service I've encountered in the industry.  By far.  Far.

Seems an odd word on it's own.  "Far."  But by far.  No comparison, absolutely the best customer service, by far.

I'm jaded enough to think that it's more or less 'part of the training' to some extent, but they actually seem to be genuinely concerned *and* knowledgeable -- Not just ratting off a script on the screen in front of them.  But "real" and relaxed -- You can almost hear the "T-shirt and jeans" atmosphere.

I have all of my accounts hosted by Bluehost - dirt cheap and great (though rarely needed) service.

I can recommend http://www.asmallorange.com/

They aren't as cheap as the big services like Dreamhost... but they're competitive, and provide great service.

Avoid activehost.com

I'm switching as soon as I get some time.  They were good until a year ago, and it's been a downslide ever since.  Had a major crash a couple of weeks ago, and didn't bother to re-upload the sites once they'd resolved it.  200 plus sites sol, and all I got was "we were working long shifts and didn't have time to figure out which ones were okay and which ones weren't".

If godaddy gives me a sweet deal, I'll drop them and eat the rest of the year just for piece of mind.

GoDaddy was fine for a couple of years but last few months, lots of problems.

We need a complete solution for webhosting, ours and some of our clients plus a reliable email setup with quick response on tech support.

It almost seems that's the business model these days.

I know it seems to good to be true but I've had very few issues in 18 months or so that I've had it. I have several friends that use it and my church uses them for media storage without issue. Lots of goodies too, including Quicktime streaming, GMail integration, and push email support (if your phone supports it).

midphase is top notch. I love it.
I had big problems with dreamhost. Now I'm a happy midphaser for more than a year. Great service, very good customer support.

Me too..   Fast connection speeds for ftp, great tutorials and no problem with customer support. They even have a "live chat" for support if so desired.

I'm in the process of switching to these guys for both my sites. & FTP.
http://www.hostmonster.com/hosting-features.htm

$6.95 per month & unlimited disc storage...seems pretty good.
Looks very close to bluehost.
