Sounds like a great night, Tomas.

Maybe not a great morning...depends on a lot of other factors I s'pose.

This week I'll be running around Boston and Foxboro trying to locate every case of Shipyard Prelude I can find. It's a seasonal brew and I guess the folks over at Shipyard are done with winter in mid January  Rolling Eyes

I don't like many Shipyard beers (they get kind of "cartoony" for me, for lack of a better word)...the Prelude is outstanding, though. Cheap, too! $11-12 for a 12 pack, which is kind of unheard of in this city with this kind of beer.

I've cleaned out two local beer shops and will stop at nothing to get a few more cases to stash at home...

I'm no big fan of Shipyard either, they seem to be stuck in some bland, sweet but not too sweet, never enough bitterness, boring and non-thirst-qhenching part of our galaxy. I haven't had their Prelude though, I'll keep an eye open for it in case it pops up in any of the pubs here.

I agree with your assessment of most Shipyard brews...you put it into words a lot better than I do. I can drink beer a lot better than I can talk about it.

I think you'd dig the Prelude, based on other beers you seem to enjoy. It's different, but definitely in the same league as a lot of "elite" darker ales. The stuff got a lot of use out here this year! This is what's sitting on the shop bathroom's floor right now...which is hilariously trumped about 30 times over by my collection of empties at home (2-3 recycling bins full of Prelude, Double Bag, and IPA90).

Helping out with designing and installing a soffit-wall build for a friend, he gave me a couple of unusual beers which I drank the last two evenings.

Here's one:
'Lump of coal'
Not a bad stout, -fairly sweet.

Here's the other:

'Seriously bad elf'
-Too strong and malty for my tastes...

I liked the first one... I think they're both seasonal, judging from the names.

I have the feeling that I have more experience in my little finger than you do in your whole body about audio electronics..

Did anyone say beer tasting? Yesterday evening looked a little like this:

index.php/fa/14544/0/

Among other really bad ones, Agrum Bocq from Du Bocq was one of the worst beers I ever tried.

The beers from De Graal, however, are great. We survived rather well since most of these bottles were only 3.5-6% ABV.
