My note book has only 1 Firewire port. Will that be adequate to connect with the Digi 003 to record in, mix and monitor audio with?

It also has 4 USB ports, 1 LAN port, 1 SPDIF audio out port, S Video out...ect...ect.

I'm looking to get a Digi 003 here fairly soon if it will work with this computer I already have.

You really need to check the Digidesign compatibility docs for 003 peripherals

Also you should check the LE/Windows forums there to see if anyone might be successfully running with your computer (even if it is just off the compatibility grid).

I think you are supposed to use a firewire drive with Pro Tools. Recording to the system drive is not recommended. This might turn out to be a problem with only one firewire port.

I love analog! I have to get another computer just to run an entry level DAW rig/Digi 003/PTLE...Duo Core Acer laptops aren't compatible...well...let's check out Sonar, and Cubase shall we.
If I can run my one Firewire port for signal in and monitor out, or FW for in only and SPDIF out for monitoring all is well.
