I saw them live a few years ago.  It was, indeed, a beautifully memorable show...

They are indeed a very interesting and talented band. I love everything I've heard from them. I'll catch them whenever they come around here.

I always find myself a bit turned off at the mention of their name, but then whenever I hear them it's exquisite and entrancing.

Count me a fan then...I think.

Should have gone to see them when they came to Atlanta a couple years back, grr...

Their new record is being streamed for free on last.fm:

Comes out the 23rd I think

Sonics feel much better than Takk to me, and it seems they are moving further towards the world of pop.  There are few really sweeping moments on this, even by their standards!  ara batur really makes me want to track an orchestra at Abbey Road  Very Happy

I've been to a fair amount of live shows and I can say that without a doubt everything about sigur ros stepped up "indie" shows about a million clicks. I was in awe all night long. I had the pleasure of seeing them about 2 years ago, so I can only imagine how much better they are now.

The music and the live sound were both amazing, they travelled with their own PA when I saw them, which made a world of difference. I love how you can just tell that music is their life, and they take it so seriously. I agree with J. if they are ever in your city do WHATEVER you can to make it to the show.

j.,

I was at that show (drove from Memphis overnight!). I loved the perfect focus in the room that night. That was an entirely new experience for me, but I was let down by the short set and the lack of the really huge songs. Apparently the drummer has been suffering from crippling headaches and the scaled back set was to keep him from basically passing out. I don't know if he's better now, but I know then he was in intense pain.

The usually thorough tour management blog has the details of the incident, but I can't find a follow-up story. Only pictures of gigs later on. Guess he's ok - they scanned his head four times in two countries and found diddly.

Guess I'm the odd man out but after watching their special show at MOMA, I'm stunned people are interested.

I saw them at Bonnaroo this year.  Great way to end a night of great music at 3 am.  I am going to see them in SD next month, can't wait.
