« on: June 12, 2008, 01:32:20 PM »

Anyone ever used one?
I'm in the market for a bus compressor for under $750.00
Your thoughts?
Thanks!

I would be hesitant to use an analog compressor in that price range on the bus. I was hoping to see that change soon. I heard toft was working on a stereo VCA compressor. I am hoping it does the SSL bus thing well. Seeing his other products imagine it might be in that range. But I haven't heard anything since AES.

twice the price but bus approved is the Rolls Super Stereo Comp. $1600 street.

Really?
It's supposed to have the same design as an SSL.
It's only shorting, judging from the specs is it only comes with an AC adapter.  But so does the Portico compressor and that's not a bad Bus Compressor by any means.

Has anyone heard one or dicked around with one?

I have heard nothing of this unit. The rolls gets all kinds of kudos from users. That doesn't mean all that much, but it wouldn;t hurt to demo it. Do they have a good return policy?

There is currently a GSSL for sale on e-bay. Gyraf SSL clone. Last bid was at $400.00. He has some decent feedback and has sold a couple of them on there.

The RMS755 Super Stereo Compressor isn't made by Rolls.  It's made by us, Roll Music Systems.  Different company!

The street price is actually $1800.  Which is still pretty low, considering the build quality, the sound, and the competition.

The Super Stereo doesn't have "the same design as an SSL".  If it did, I hope you wouldn't buy it.  I hope the Chameleon Labs doesn't either.  If you want an SSL, you should buy it from SSL.  The RMS755 Super Stereo is designed and built by us in the US.

I know The RMS is stereo  ..  but is not the CL mono?

Edit: Just checked it is stereo.
