How often did they need retubing?

David was doing them once a year from what I remember.  We also started to get component failure which at times would take out a tube or two.

Hey, Mark,

Your old room at Sony was a serious inspiration!

Did George Augspurger do the acoustics on the new room?

Anything else you can tell us?

Thanks,

Mike Chafee

The room we're in now is a Neil Grant room.  It's a pretty big room, which I'm not used to, but it's working out fine.  I'm making some very nice records here.

The 44th Street studios (Trutone) were done by WSDG.  This is where we were from  September to February.  It's a wider room, which works well for 5.1 placement.  I did do a couple of surround sessions while I was there and it definitely felt better than 54th Street for surround.

I don't see concrete pedestals in my future.  I'm tossing around a few ideas and I'm hoping by the fall putting them in place.

It's been very interesting listening to the same monitoring system in 3 different designer's rooms.  A real audio master class, for sure.

Care to comment on that a little more?  Most of us are stuck in the rooms we have... did you find huge changes in imaging?  Any real surprises?

Thanks-
