videos of all analog re-mastering for Mission of Burma
« on: March 24, 2008, 03:23:44 PM »

Some of y'all might find this as interesting as I did.  Boston art-punk icons Mission of Burma (who amazingly reformed in 2002 after being broken up for 19 years) in November 2007 had their original 3 albums from the late 70's / early 80's remastered to vinyl using an entirely analog signal path (with the send to the lathe directly from the 1/4" using a Studer deck with preview & program paths) by George Marino at Sterling Sound - the videos show George and cutting tech Ray Janos, along with producer Rick Harte - discussing the details of all analog mastering.

More info on the releases at:

I'm definitely interested in picking up these releases when they come out this month.

Best regards,

My college radio station had their song "Dirt" in rotation (1986!)

Thanks for the post, I'll look forward to the remasters!

Thanks for the links.  That was great to watch.  Also further proof (like any is needed) that George Marino is awesome.

Just picked up the 2-LP set of "Vs." at the MoB show here this past Sunday - and got to say that it really does sound fantastic - George and Ray did a great job and RTI just as importantly did an excellent job on the plating and pressing.  If you're into early 80's art-punk at its best then this release is highly recommended.
