This looks like a non "M" type that usually goes fo 1/4 the price of an "M" (microphone) designated Vf14.

If so, it seems this is a seller who is taking advantage of people.

I'm sure if it was an "M" we would be looking at nice 8"X10" glossy's of that fact in his ad.

2000 tube transactions make it hard to claim ignorance...

I was the purchaser of the recent vf14 on ebay, and although i have not received it yet, the tube was evaluated by Andreas Grosser, in Berlin. It was eval for emission, and noise floor over an extended time period, as well a 154 ohm heater dc resistance. . Does anyone know this man?  I am hopeful that my purchase is bonafide, and will keep the forum posted---

Was it evaluated while in your possession? If so, I am confident that Andreas knows his stuff.

If the SELLER claims that the tube was evaluated by Grosser, the story is less confidence inspiring.

Andreas Grosser called me from Germany and verified all the info I received and
kindly provided much information about these tubes. I feel secure that I made the right choice on it, in spite of the price.

After yet another horror story from one of my clients, I have put up a sticky on the subject:

It's time to replace old mics based on VF-14 tube with something newer.
Can I live without U47?
Easily.
So far I find Wagner's U47W absolutely perfect mic and I don't care if it is called clone, copy, recreation or replica.
And yes, I have 6 spare tubes that costed (all) less than 1/8th of the VF-14.
Stop the frenziness !

Fine, you made you decision. Congratulations for finding peace of mind on this vexing issue!

But maybe you go too far thinking or even advocating that others should come to the same conclusion and decision. There are those who like the sound of a genuine, VF14-equipped U47 and would not want to substitute the tube with its inevitable effect on the mic's timbre. And you don't give up anything to respect that.
