Eric Clapton shreds
« on: March 04, 2008, 06:20:23 PM »

OK, admittedly NOT mastering but pretty darn funny.

(I'm hoping Brad will let this stay as it will probably die a quick death anyway.)

I just found this the other night and was in tears before it was over.  Someone took the time to replace the audio from an Eric Clapton concert.  Hilarious.

If you haven't seen it, enjoy:

(There's another one with Stevie Ray Vaughn too...)

Look, I know it's mean.  But sometimes the end justifies the mean.

Actually the original videos have all been pulled from You Tube.

They were made by a guy called  Santeri Ojala under the pseudonym of "St.Sanders"

Here is an article from WIRED telling all about it...

Oh! I get it.

At first I thought WHAT...?

Crappy fake guitar playing inserted, instead of what was really played by these masters.

The only thing I don't get is... WHY?

Some knuckle-head with too much free time, and a twisted sense of humor.

And for you jazz lovers....

What's really funny about this guy is that he clearly captures the nuance of the original artist in a very unclear way Laughing

Being a former guitar player and knowing how good these guys really are at their art, that's what made this so ridiculous and funny.  Kinda of a Spinal Tap type of joke.

And here's his version of Metallica's "One." It might be better than the Clapton.

The drum programming alone is worth it:

edit, though the inclusion of "The Final Countdown" as a riff in the santana clip is too good to pass up!

The best one of all is the Jake E Lee w/ Ozzy - http://youtube.com/watch?v=1JBzWZq4fXg

I actually was laughing so hard I started to cry first time I saw it.  Some might think this guy might have too much time on his hands - but I'm saying he's a genius as I figure in the middle of winter in Finland you probably got to do something besides drinkign vodka to keep sane.

The Jaco solo was awesome!  but not as cool as this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxZWvhGE7CM

Best regards,
Steve Berson

Oh, man the Santana clip was hilarious.  "The Final Countdown" riff and the machine-gun drums had me crying again.

As did this Creed clip (with vocals):
