You have rotary switches for each insert (1-6) to use for bypassing each piece (to see if you really want it in line or not). These are rotary switches because (I'm guessing here...) they are quieter and/or faster than toggle switches?

These rotary switches (Shallcos) have a rather huge contact surface, much larger than a toggle...

Process switch selects what source feeds the processing chain, the monitor switch determines what you listen to - any of the 6 possible sources plus the output of the DAW.

do love it. I don't know that it sounds better than the Crane Song console, but it definitely has more flexibility, which is the reason I built it. I know it can't sound worse - a well implemented passive design cannot be surpassed in a fixed installation like this...
