The key adds perspective to their size, for those who thought they might be giant violins.
I never saw a bass with a chin rest before.

If you ever do I suggest you be VERY polite to the guy who's big enough to play it.

i remember reading that joni mitchell had her guitar repaired after it was driven over by a car, and claimed it sounded better

I've known some guitarists that could only be improved by driving over their instruments with a car.

That's the recommended way of dealing with bagpipes and accordions.

I remember recording a live concert for an american all female string quartet (who's name escapes me, but they looked pretty sexy in knee high boots) & one of the girls' bow broke mid-piece. She rushed off, came back on with a new bow & announced that fortunately the bow was repairable, as to replace it would be the equivalent to "buying a new pool for your house".

Was it Tosca from Austin? I'm recording them next week!

You know, I think it was! The name sounds familiar. It was at a time when I was recording concerts for broadcast on a local radio station & the names kinda blur a bit in my mind. Thanks for that. I hope your recording goes well!

I have the feeling that I have more experience in my little finger than you do in your whole body about audio electronics..
