Well i read in some old producer book that the pointer sisters "i'm so exited" where recorded on a Quantum audio arts console from 1976. I think this company has made a lot of radio consoles but i have never used one. / Toby

We had one of these in the '80s. Memory is pretty foggy, but we were running it into an Ampex MM1000 2" 16 track. No remote on this machine- I fudged a fake transport control together from some switches off a drill press or something- lots of fun to punch on!

I seem to recall not a lot of headroom on this board- we had the GAMMA- but I could be mistaken about that. I am sure that we had to install a capacitor set on every single one of those frequency selection switches in the EQ- they popped and crackled and sizzled like crazy if you changed the EQ frequency with the monitors up.

That's all I have, sorry.

I've used an older 8x4 quantum console for tracking, the pres are pretty usable on drums in particular.

FWIW, that same studio now has a 16x8 quantum console AND a Yamaha PM 1000. While I haven't been back since either of these arrived I know the owners can't decide which sounds better. Keep in mind the Quantum they have is an older board than the one on ebay. Who knows what condition the caps etc. are in.

I know tiny telephone in SF had a large Quantum console before they got their Neve-- if you have the tape op book it's in there somewhere.

I wouldn't write it off, but at that price who knows.
