State Of The Union
« on: January 29, 2008, 01:46:31 AM »

I am reminded of a couplet from a Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians song called "The President," from the Element Of Light elpee:

The President is talking to us, through a microphone,
Like he's trying to pack his mother off to an old people's home.

Bush's SOTU addresses upset me so (to hear so many lies and half-truths) I can't bear to watch or listen.

Ivan,

I wish I could say yes to your question.  Having visited the link, the book sounds fascinating and seems well written.  I'm sure it provides great insight.

Before reading the sample the link provided, I was sure Carter was going to be the focal point, for either good or bad.  He is a man who tried his best to make a positive difference -- and to do it in a moral way.
