On Dan Alexander's website there's a bit about cleaning rusted EMT plates with a floor buffer & polish:

http://www.danalexanderaudio.com/tips.html

I could swear I never noticed that part in his EMT calibrate, tune & ship tips before..

I finally moved the EMT140 today from the garage where it'd been stashed for years into storage, using the Dan Alexander EMT moving tips. Was quite painless & easy with 3 people, utilizing a piano mover style wheeled dolly underneath... all ground floors & a truck with hydraulic loading ramp.

A question - when I had the behemoth open, I noticed a number of metal V-strips, about 6 inches in length, had fallen off the damping mechanism - there are these metal 'ribs' all over...I am sure I heard the tinkling of more casualties when we moved it...

I assume these strips are to provide some additional structure / rigidity?

Has anyone seen this happen? Should I just leave them or try and somehow reaffix?

As usual, I neglected to think of documenting the moment so no photos...

I think it's a little more than ironic that the bobcat has "New Holland" on the boom Wink

I'm envious of your location too Ryan!  Looks awesome!

Happy new year!

I know, the 'New Holland' bit is funny in so many ways,

Terry - not sure, I would hazard a guess that particular one could probably lift up to something like 15 feet? I know there's some bobcats with telescoping arms that could go up & extend really high eg: 30 feet..

Seeing as they're designed for stuff like construction materials, huge hay rolls etc I would think there's no console or studio bit one of these couldn't handle... Key is finding an operator that is experienced, sane & skilled..I was lucky to find a guy who was really good & smart as well, having a vision to solve some logistical problems onsite...

Rick - I am definitely pinching myself, the new location & community is great..

Btw I will be literally right around the corner from you tomorrow spinning the club classics at the Waldorf Hotel New Year's bash http://www.waldorfhotel.com/  - they've based one room on the legendary Loft club from NYC, outfitted with vintage Klipschhorn speakers, sounds great in there.

Just took this photo off the back porch:

sweet view!!

Damn, I won't be in Van tomorrow Sad  Next time your over there I'll come and check it out for sure tho!  I didn't even know they had stuff going on over there.. Pretty cool!

Ps: I had my eye on that island for a long time.  I had a bunch of buddies over there in the 90's and was planning to make the move until my present situation fell in my lap.  Really nice people / community... Wonderful lifestyle Smile

Tell me about it - I came over the 1st time for a gig in around '83 and came back a few more times over the years for visits & gigs..struck an immediate chord with me already on the first visit & eventually I had the idea in my mind this was where I'd like to retire...

But then my whole 'empire' collapsed in Euroland & there I was stuck in a place I don't particularly like, with nothing going on and I thought, well why not make the move now...

I missed what island your on, but I spent time in Courtney in '92. I was about to buy an ocean front  bungalow, 100ft frontage before I moved to Winnipeg  - 150k... Where's the face palm when you need it?

Great motorcycle memories there.

Not completely off topic, and if I'm off base please take this down.
We are moving my place, and while cleaning out the storage rooms, I noticed this bag of stuff...
(NO, not that stuff!)

Since my EMT is now in California, I no longer have any use for these pickups and or the tension gauge.
So I offer it here for sale if any one might be interested?
I'm not even sure if everything is in the package?
Maybe one of you do?
Anyhow, if any one has use for these, just contact me here or
