Yeah, that one's a classic, you got to see it in HD, it's, um....

My old man had Larry on every week and I hated it as a kid, but lately, I don't know, I like it. My kids starting watching it for the tap dancing (phenomenal) plus you get the unintentional camp of the hippy segment. Then there are the flat out great players and ensemble singing. And that chick that plays stride piano, whoa! She fucking smokes the keys.

Lawrence Welk, turning a new generation of dads to the light side.

Myron Floren was the deep-pocket of accordion players.
The way he would lay back on 2&4 made the more rigid, classically-trained accordionists envy his soulfullness.

Part of the Welk wrecking crew.

My dear old Grandma Honychurch used to call me on the phone every time Lawrence Welk came on tv, saying I must go watch it. She loooooved Lawrence Welk. Very much a product of her generation.
My Grandma could play any song by ear ever written (as long as it was written before 1950.)

LW was much hipper than most thought.

He just knew his audience very well.

BTW, more Lennons:

My Grandmother used to keep her TV on the channel Lawrence Welk was broadcast on in her town just to make sure her TV would not break, causing her to miss the show.

THAT is fan loyalty.
