How broke is my Harmonizer?

Or, How is my Harmonizer broke?
Or both.
I bought an HM80 recently, & I'm fairly enchanted with it even though I don't think it's fully functional.  It shifts pitch, delays, but in reverse mode it has a ticking that gets faster or slower with shift frequency, and the regular mode has a sort of tremolo (no ticking) which speeds up the further you get from unison with the input pitch.  And the delay tends to have a bit of a pop at the beginning of an input note or series of notes--ie, only the first note in a series will have a pop at its head.

So I'm wondering how much of this is the nature of the beast, & how much is the unit not working right.  Anybody familiar with these old things?
