« on: October 24, 2007, 07:06:08 AM »

Hi difficoult question: working signals DA/AD or AD/DA from 44.1khz 24 bits session to 44.1khz 24 bits session (no dither), for your experience what do you suggest or your like more for best sound at end (colour, stereo image, phase, dinamic range, etc..........):
Apoggee AD/DA 1000 or Digidesign 192 I/0?????
I can check both systems whith my ears, but what is your opinnion on DA/AD and AD/DA?
Best regards......Pedri

The Apogee 1000 was King in it's day, about ten years ago but it's only 20 bit iirc. We were using the AD1000 back then, until the 24-bit Rosetta appeared.

The Digi 192 is just OK generic conversion, albeit 24-bit 192kHz.

So that's a weird toss up... try it both ways and use what sounds best to you.

If I were working with unbalanced sources or destinations, I'd definitely take the Apogees.

I really should take my AD-1000 out of the closet...
