I have a yamaha ov96 v.2 and I want to record w/ it onto computer.  I would like to go w/ pro tools, but I want to make the best decision.

Can I use the ADAT output from the board into a certain sound card for my computer?..  

or must I have the protools hardware9 i.e. firewire etc.

You can use the ADAT out into the ADAT in on a DIGI001, 002 or 003. That's the only way, unless you want to go M-Powered, then you get to use M-Audio interfaces instead of DIGI interfaces.
