AES Tour
« on: September 29, 2007, 12:05:10 PM »

Hey

J. - I realize this is off topic, but I wanted to give everyone who doesn't know a headsup that Legacy will be hosting a tour on Saturday (from 9am-11am) as part of the AES convention.  It's $35 for non-members (I'm not convinced that we had anything to do with the pricing) and $25 for members, so if anyone wants to come through, say "hi", and see some really great rooms, it'd be cool to see some of you there!

Matt,

I think I'm going to be there, but not by 9am on Saturday! Hopefully I can show up on your doorstep and you can take me in.

JT

NEW DEVELOPMENT!

I WILL be there in time for the tour and will probably be the first geek in line.

See you there!

but i'll bow in your direction if that helps at all

much appreciated J.

Anytime you're in town though I'll show you around.

Since you like low end so much, you'll have to check out our studio  C.  I can feel the subs in the lobby... 2 floors up.   Custom designed by our chief tech.

Speaking of which - I think Vintech is also shooting out their 33609 copy against the real thing in studio C on Saturday.

Matt,

Sucks I missed you. I didn't get to the studio tour, but we came in later on Sat. night and I got to meet some of your colleagues. Very cool place man!

The Vintech/Neve shootout was fun too! Dallas seems like a cool guy. Not to mention he had Heineken!  Very Happy

Jason -

Sucks that we missed each other!

Yeah, studio is a pretty cool room, did you get a chance to check out studio C?

Oh - I also didn't get a chance to check out much of the Vintech / Neve shootout in studio A, although I was there when they were just setting up and what not.  I have heard that the new X73i and a Neve 1073 are generally indistinguishable from one another sonically.  I wasn't there, but that's the general feed back.

We got to keep a Vintech 609CA as part of the agreement to do the shootout, which looks pretty robust and I believe is being used for the first time today.

10-4. The Vintech is AWESOME.

I'm not sure how the shootout ended up, but at the time me & another guy had two correct out of nine. I think it was nine examples. Two other guys had 3 correct. On a couple of things the Neve sounded more focused, I guess. If you like the 1073... you CANNOT beat the Vintech... especially for the price.

Didn't get to see "C". I got to use the low-flow toilet... good thing I didn't need to crap. Maybe next time.

Back in Big D. Had to cut the thing short on Sunday. I got as much done with this radio show as I could before I left. But as they say: The (weekly) show must go on.

So, did anyone find anything worth buying at the AES?

Besides the Vintech... the Telefunken AK47 will be in the arsenal very soon!

I was impressed with the Focal monitors. (Personal preference... but what do I know, I've been using NS10s for years!!!  Laughing )

Yeah - the low flow toilets...

I actually didn't make it to the convention at all.  I was involved in a bunch of stuff here at the studio, and couldn't really get away.
