I think as long as you have a good VF14 tube, nothing that has been swapped out of an U47 should make it be too difficult to get back to sounding like a proper U47.  I'm very happy with the current production K47 capsules, and suitable replacements for the passive components are all available.

Tele USA no longer offers the 251-V, with vintage CK12, FYI.

They say the heart of Rock & Roll is still beating, which is amazing if you consider all the blow it's done over the years.

"The negative aspects of this business, not only will continue to prevail, but will continue to accelerate in madness. Conditions aren't going to get better, because the economics of rock and roll are getting closer and closer to the economics of Big Business America." - Bill Graham

So I finally found a great mic.

I got a U47, in amazing condition, and sounding great.

Gunther Wagner was the tech who last saw the mic, and vouched for it.

Now I will wait a while before looking again for another mic... hopefully the economy gets to where the prices go a little lower, and I also am able to get lucky and find another great example of another microphone.

But for now, I am really happy with this one. It sounds really really great, as a U47 should.

Cheers
