« on: May 05, 2004, 05:21:50 PM »

i just bought two Neve 1272 modules and i'd gladly
welcome any help about making power supply, gain pot,
phase inversion...everything.

for Fletcher: would you kindly
send me the schems for the project
if needed?

i'd like to add that,ho-hum,i'm a total rookie who's just learned to solder cable...any
help is _really_ appreciated.
thank you all!

We have a 1272 section of a Neve manual nicely bound for $25- USD [postage included]... they really ain't rocket surgery.

One word of caution... if you really want to set them up properly as a mic pre [which damn few of the 'aftermarket' rack dudes do], you will want to change the gain on the input and the output amplifier simultaneously and evenly.

When we did ours we didn't try to be faithful to the original Neve concept... but we were also damn picky about how we handled it.  We ended up putting a "+20" switch on the output amplifier and a pot on the input amplifier... it worked pretty well... but it wasn't really the "right" way to do a 1272 [we also weren't trying to "do" a 1272... we made a "Mercenary Iron Works" unit that just happened to use parts we got for free from old Neve routing modules.

Best of luck with the project... email Jay Fitz Jay@mercenary.com if you need a 1272 manual book.

Peace.
