Wiring An Insert Cable
« on: September 11, 2007, 11:08:38 PM »

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to wire up my ADR Compex Limiter F760X-RS as an insert on my board. I wired it in the same way that I did the Summit and the Urei... but NOOOOOO.  Twisted Evil

HELP!

Compex is unbalanced in , unbalanced out, pin 3 hot, unless someone has modified it. Connect the cold pin on both XLRs to pin 1 (ground) also.

...tip is send and ring is receive...

..Unless it isn't.

Depending on which manufacturer's console you're using.

There really is no universal standard.

Yes, check the schemos for both pieces of equipment before you start to experiment.
You're going to end up with a bunch of different cables.
Make sure you label them after making sure they work, ie: Soundcraft to Compex, etc.

..Actually, I've just thought about it.

The Compex is a piece of rubbish, that you should just send to me. I'll make sure that it's em... well,  ... -you know... '"disposed-of"  -properly.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more you should send it to me. -Don't worry, I won't charge for the disposal service. Wink

I've actually searched for the schematics on the ADR unit and have come up short every time. It seems (even from threads on others' forums) that the only way to get your hands on it is to buy the manual directly from the UK. It's like $30. YOW! ... I'd rather experiment. It's a lot more fun than waiting on snail mail. I thought someone would have a stroke of genius. It's a Sony DMX board. I started by wiring the 3 pin. Then 2... then hair pulling.
