How much space?
« on: September 09, 2007, 06:37:04 PM »

Hi all -

I'm looking into the possibilities of opening a two+ room facility.  One room will feature a large format analog desk, live room, and a couple of iso's.  The other will feature a digi control surfaces, live room, iso booth.  If I could fit a small production room w/ ISO that would be cool, too.  Of course, I'll need a reception and office.

How much space should I be looking for?  I found a real nice place that's about 2400 sq ft.  Is that enough?

2400 sounds very tight to me for your listed program. I would be thinking more around 3500 -4000 to allow for loss to construction, circulation, etc.. Of course, us studio designer always want more space and it does depend on how large the rooms you are looking for, etc..

For a large format analog console control room, 400-500 SF is what we see as a minimum (gross) requirement.
