Hate to burst your bubble, but much of that show is fake - Discovery isn't sure if they will renew the contract as so many things have recently come out about him and the 'authenticity' of the show. Examples: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.htm l?in_article_id=470155&in_page_id=1770 http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertai nment/tv_and_radio/article2241720.ece There's plenty more to be found if you look around...
Bummed me out to find out that while he is a well trained climber and former SAS dude, much of that show is staged...

yeah of course it is. it's easy to see the setup that goes into a lot of what they do. like when then show him climbing down a sketchy cliff. first shot from top of cliff looking down (no camera in his hand, no camera-man on ground below), then cut to a POV shot of him using a hand-held camera, then cut to shot from ground looking up (no camera man above him, no camera in his hand), then show him reaching the ground from top (no camera man below), then cut to him reaching the ground from the ground (camera shooting from where it would have been seen from a shot on top). they must do 3 runs of everything they do for coverage and editing.
they also credit him as the "Presenter" in the credits. some other dude gets the "Survival Expert" credit. i'm still entertained by it all. he's got a lot of charisma.
and he still ate raw zebra. if you watch the video, there's no faking that shit.
