Rackmount a Mac Pro
« on: August 08, 2007, 03:38:46 PM »

Does anyone know of any alternatives to the Marathon products now Marathon are no more?

I've found these: -

http://www.redco.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=121&cat= Mac+G5+Vertical+Rackmount

http://www.custom-consoles.com/Rackmount-Mac-g5.php

But know nothing about either of them.

I'm about to buy and HD3 rig but it needs to be portable. The alternative is to get something like this: -

http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music/typeproducts2.asp ?id=3646-2467

And have 2 cases.

Hi -I just had a case made that has a 10u section at the top and then a section at the bottom which has no rack ears, but a foam lined section which is MacPro sized. The case was much cheaper than any of the actual rackmount options that I could fine, and slightly more elegant I think! You have to be a bit careful spec-ing it to a maker, but I just had it so there are some bars at the back of the case to stop the mac sliding backwards, and the front door / lid has foam stuck to the inside to stop it sliding forward in transit.

Hey Matt, that sounds pretty rad, have any pictures?  I'd really like to do the same and am curious how yours turned out and for how much?  Thanks.
