Meitner AD & DA vs Lavry Gold
« on: July 25, 2007, 11:59:25 PM »

I have the opportunity to pick up some EMM Labs/Meitner D-A & A-D DSD Converters for a good price. How do they compare against the Lavry Gold for PCM conversion?

I have the EMM Labs AD8 IV/DA8 IV and compared them to the Gold, dCS and Prism. In PCM mode, I feel the Gold has a very slight advantage on SOME material. On other material, I couldn't tell them apart. I have started to just upsample almost everything to DSD, where it's no contest. I'd say to go ahead and get the EMM Labs converters. You'll appreciate the 6 extra channels in case you should do surround and also each unit can be used to up/downsample.
