A couple of weeks ago a couple of U.S. Navy sailors arrived at the studio (in Sydney, Aust.) to finish off a Hip Hop album they had started in a studio at their last port (somewhere in Japan). One of the songs was basically a catalogue of conspiracy theories, like that the U.S. government was responsible for 9/11 & also for the death of President Reagan (in regards to Reagan one would have to ask why. In fact, I did, but the answer was simply "that's one of the theories").
Exactly a week later I was recording a mellow Jack Johnson-esque acoustic EP & one of the clients intimated to me that the Bali bombings were engineered by the CIA, TNA (Indonesian army) & Mossad, in order to sway public opinion in Australia so that we would send troops to Iraq.
The very next evening I was mixing sound for a christian band where they had a speaker half way through the night. The speaker, a reformed IRA man, had a thick Irish accent which I understood about a third of the time. One of the half sentences I understood was "blah blah blah Al-Qaeda, which doesn't exist."
Now I'm not commenting on the validity on any of these theories, but what I do want to know: is it possible for me to remain blissfully unaware of the world around me in the safe confines of a dimly lit studio anymore? Could I possibly become "the man who knew too much"?
