4" 703 is it a thing of the past?

I can't find a distributor of Owens Corning products
that carries four inch thick 703.
I was told that they quit making it and I should use
double two inch.

Anyone know if this is true?

I haven't seen it for several years here in Austin and have been using spray adhesive to bond 2" panels.

 rarely explicitly specify 4" material... We specify 4" thk ALL the time and typically it is installed as two layers of 2" (703 or 705).. the materials still shows as available on the oc website, but.... be advised that Mansville, Certinteed and OC all make 4lb/CF and 6lb/CF unfaced Rigid Fiberglass and any will do just fine...

In the UK, it appears as  a KNAUF product. This is where I got my slabs from.

4" 703 is available here in Boston from Kamco.

I checked yesterday.

$1.66 per square foot.

It's 3lb/cubic foot, not 4lb.

Equivalents are Certainteed CertaPro Commercial Board CB300 and Johns Manville Insul-SHIELD I/S300.

705 (6lb/cubic foot) equivalents are CB600 and I/S600, respectively.  Max 2" depth on CB600, 3" on 705 and I/S 600.

Spray adhesive is highly flamable. I just double them up and wrap them tightly with flame resistant burlap. They are pretty pourous and don't slide. also look into Roxul. It is mineral wool. Cost about the same and is 8 lb vs corning's 703 at 3 lb.  According to Ethan the foil backed stuff works better. There are other products as well. Google John Manville spinglass.  Same as corning 703 and it comes in 4".
