Hi guys,

I have a cheap SuperLux snare mic that I sometimes use for location recording that has had the capsule come loose (completely). The capsule is some kind of plastic and the housing is metal. From the residu it's clear that some sort of adhesive was used to fix the capsule to the housing. Does anybody know what kind of adhesive I could use to repair this mic?

Try a hot-glue gun. The glue holds up as well as epoxy, and can be easily removed if needed. I use the stuff for stabilizing electronic components all the time (when heat isn't a factor). It's about the same consistency as the epoxy used to hold components together in other microphones (such as the transformers in the SM-57). Just be careful and use as small an amount as possible - you do NOT want to get any on the capsule diaphragm!!!
