New Apple Products
« on: January 11, 2005, 04:55:03 PM »

anybody else see the new Apple products announced today - macmini and iPod Flash? Pretty good ideas for increasing Apple's market share. Don't like the idea of not being able to play a specific song on the iPod Flash, guess i'll just have to stick to the original version. The macmini is pretty cool though - i think it'd make a great travel rig with a DIGI002 or MOTU box, or the heart of a dedicated digital jukebox like i'd been plotting to do with an iMac.

cheaper computer (espically apple prices) - bring it on! - even to farm out some DSP tasks to a seperate machine it makes it worthwhile for the price. That rig is faster than the current G4 i am running - and with the upgrade of 1GB of RAM you'd totally be in buisness.

yeah but apple isn't letting anyone upgrade the RAM but them

so you have to pay apple prices to blow out the RAM and that will cost about as much as the machine......that's a bit of a rip.

in typical apple fashion, they ruined a beautiful thing once again.

but hey, i still think the minimac is really cool.  it's perfect so the "home entertainment center" and for a client internet surfing machine.

if i end up having a lot of clients start to attend sessions i'll probably pick one up to distract them.

I don't see what's stopping you from adding ram ro it. It looks just like a regular dimm in this picture:

Looks like you just pop the case off and switch it like anything else.

i wonder if a place like CDW would do it - they do RAM installs for free if you are buying your RAM from them and they are an authorized apple repair shop as well.
