For the last two and a half years I ran the forums formerly known as “recpit”. It was a damn fun two and a half years. I also had a forum on “recpit” called “Yeah, what”, the name of the forum started from the first day of getting the feel for what we were doing in the old PSW office in Massachusetts… it was never meant to stick, but stick it did.

As time marched on, I learned a hell of a lot, and I do mean a hell of a lot. During my several years of posting on Usenet and various other internet forums it has become remarkably apparent to me just how little I know about the art and science of recording.  I have been very fortunate in having been able to take away ideas and suggestions for techniques to which I would not have been exposed without this sort of forum thing.  I think this is without a doubt the strongest asset these kinds of forums can bring to the community.

The other day my daughter was listening to a ‘Velvet Underground’ record. As I walked past her room the line “I guess I just don’t know, I guess that I just don’t know” came through the speakers, out her door, into the hall… and smacked me in the face [no pun intended if you happen to know the song from which that lyric came]… it seemed like a good name for the new forum [

"Recording engineers are an arrogant bunch.
If you've spent most of your life with a few thousand dollars worth of musicians in the studio, making a decision every second and a half... and you and  they are going to have to live with it for the rest of your lives, you'll get pretty arrogant too.  It takes a certain amount of balls to do that... something around three"

As I get older, the less I like change. But this is really great, and I believe I'll actually participate for a change!

Isn't that where the Yankees play?

Ya know.... The GOOD team. The one that always wins.

Hello Fletcher.

Glad to be here.

On my best behavior of course.....

That 'other guy' is gonna stay over at the MARSH.

XOXOXO

Fletcher, you were one of the first people on RAP that had knowledge AND a very entertaining writing style. You drew me in to the world of net posting. Much thanks. Best, with the new digs here. Rock the fuck On.

Good one, Z!

I think a fresh start can be a good thing; leave the baggage at the pit. Some fresh faces here. That Tim Gilles guy appears to be a drummer. He probably doesn't know how to record distorted guitars. Pity.

Smile Looks good. I've never posted anywhere on RecPit, but I've been a reader and lurker for over 2 years. Out of respect for the professionals, I thought it better to just listen, and learn. I've learned alot from y'all, too. Why post now? To say hi. And I know a bit more, and my little home studio has grown. I'm an old rock guitarist  and I play alot more than guitar now, and recording is my passion.

This new forum is ALMOST cool enough to keep me from going postal on whoever is responsible for abandoning Fenway. I say we hang them by a rib.
