pass thru boxes?
« on: August 23, 2008, 07:33:49 AM »

I think this is what they are called, he would like to put a connection box in the wall between the 2 rooms that handle XLR and TRS connections? to help seal the rooms etc

so the mic cable would be in the tracking room and plug into the XLR input on the wall jack and then in the mix room you plug another cable into the other side and run it into you mixer etc

probably need about 4 xlr and 4 trs??

anyone have a link to a good place to get these?

thanks!

Sometimes it can be better to just have a box in the recording room, and then have the connectors in the control room jacked directly into the console or patch bay. That'd mean you just have to find a snake/box combination that is to your liking.

There are a lot of brands out there, here is a good one that's not too pricey for starters:

These are also OK:

My advice is to always install more channels than you think you need. And that goes for both ways/directions!

Unless you also like Redco...

My place is populated with the Redco modular boxes:

With your choice of jack panels:

Very inexpensive and the build quality is great. They also have great prices on the Neutrik XLRs that you'll want to populate the panels with.

Ask for Chris if you call, he's a very nice guy.
