In my opinion it's better to put everything on a separate physical drive, not just another partition. That way if anything goes bad with the drive itself, you're safe.

I wouldn't bother installing programs to a different drive than the OS. It'll just make unnecessary clutter, and if you reinstall the OS again you'll have to reinstall the programs anyway.

Yuppers, about an hour to reformat my system drive & re-install XP, then about the same to get everything tweaked & all the programs installed.

Perhaps you're implying that I wouldn't have to do that with a mac.
