Well, that got me thinking. (I love these little puzzles)
You should be able to set up a loop with Senderella (VST only). It's free.
This would go something like:
Main track -
Insert Senderella, Channel 1. Set to Send & Relay
Insert Senderella, Channel 2. Set to Receive & Thru
2nd (aux) track -
Insert Senderella, Channel 1. Set to Receive & Thru.
Route track to external out
3rd (aux) track -
External in.
Insert Senderella, Channel 2. Set to Send & Relay.
This second Senderella should route the signal back to your main track, so that you can insert your Elephant after that.
It's a little tedious to set up, but if it works you have a nice template, and you can forget about the other tracks (as in, ignore them)

edit- btw you can copy the dll and rename to something like Send1 and Send2. It's easier to keep track that way and you won't have to set channels
