I have a Lavry Gold A/D that replaced a Hedd. As good as the Hedd is in the A/D dept., the Gold is more detailed, yet smoother, and quite a bit wider and deeper sounding. If volume is your game, the Hedd could take a bit more level before obviously distorting,(although the Gold is less nasty sounding at high levels right up to the point of cracking, the Hedd gets more harsh than the Gold at high levels, but takes more before it 'cracks')and has a slight amount more punch in the low mids. Kind of a more hi fi Apogee. Over all, I prefer the strengths of the Gold over the strengths of the Hedd, but they are both very high quality.
