"the show must go on" ? Britney 'attempted rehab suicide'
« on: March 05, 2007, 01:56:10 PM »

Pretty sad imo .... was she sold out by her parents & handlers as a child ?
Is this just a normal thing that celebs do when they freak out ?
Kind of a mid - career crisis ?

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21325065-2,00.html

Britney 'attempted rehab suicide'

BRITNEY Spears has flipped her lid in rehab, trying to hang herself with a bedsheet after screaming "I am the anti-christ" to frightened staff.

She made the demonic cry after scrawling the devil's number "666" across her head.

Spears's manic behaviour has concerned relatives who once again fear for her safety, and has staff at the Promises Clinic in Malibu, California struggling to cope.

The former chart-topper's troubles have been revealed in Britain's News Of the World, which broke the exclusive story.

Within days of her suicidal behaviour, Spears - who was in and out of rehab before shaving her own head and later attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella - was begging estranged husband Kevin Federline not only for a reconciliation, but demanding she wanted to soon have another baby.

The ordeal began when she terrified staff by writing the number of the beast on her head and running around the clinic screaming, "I am the anti-christ!"

"The clinic people just didn't know what to do," a friend claimed.

The pop star then tried to hang herself with a bedsheet was but was found before she could hurt herself.

having kids and then breaking up shortly threafter can do amazing things to a person, in a very bad way. i should know.
for all of my jealousy of such a successful person i still feel sorry for her and hope she comes to her senses.

to believe that one is the anti-christ is a ego problem.  she is too young to have a child, especially in today's society.  her fame seems to be driving her to the edge.

she needs a vacation from herself.

Childbirth will 'wake up' some borderline mentally ill people..

when the trigger goes off they need to start taking medication.

I always hated her and her music (not really her's anyway) as well as everything she stood for.
Now I just feel really sad for her. What a mess.

"to believe that one is the anti-christ is a ego problem"

actually, it's a diagnostic sign for bipolar disorder

max is right, post natal stress can set off all sorts of mentalist problems..

oh, britaney....

Most importantly, the rehab she is in is a fucking joke.  I'm sorry, but you can't give celebrity alcoholics special treatment.  Betty Ford got it right.  They made Elizabeth Taylor scrub toilets.  There's a couple other good places too, but Wonderland and Promises are complete bullshit.

Very true! That and major tragic events, both of which Brit has "suffered" recently.
My mother had the same thing happened, she's bi-polar and a really tragic event, following closely to a couple child births, set her off.

She needs to get on meds for sure. Rehab won't help much now.

Childbirth can also 'wake up' the memory of secrets kept in relation to childhood physical and sexual abuse. Broad descriptive label , Post Natal Depression. Medication ? Yes for the management of the here and now survival from suicidal tendencys etc but a theraputic or healing journey is the way to health and strength.
We can speculate etc but  Britney knows somewhare whats really going on.

i think of it as "post-natal distress"

the distress can cause whatever is being controlled to unravel

so it can be: post-natal depression, post-natal obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-natal borderline "psychosis" (?britney) etcetera

bottom line, everyone unravels in their own way

likewise with ravelling back together...

Man, I feel bad for her. Pop star or not, I would feel bad for ANYONE going through this kinda torture. Seems like the next few years for her are gonna be tough.

Ya Know, I'm not a fan of her music either but I've certainly never met her and have no reason to dislike her. Looking back at how she went from a young mostly normal girl to a pornish pop star almost over night, I can see how she could be very sad and confused about nearly every aspect of her life.

I don't feel bad for her Financial situation but I really feel for her when it comes to her personal life.. I hope she gets healthy and lives to be an old woman. I hope she can look back someday and smile. "Wow, was I ever a piece of work" kind of smile..

I wish her the best..Truly..

She was 17 years old (by a month) when her first CD was released - Baby One More Time.

Like her or not, what a huge fishbowl existence and tremendous amount of work and scrutiny from then to now.

One can only imagine.

God is a healer and restorer in my live and

HE is an equal opportunity healer and restore

so she can have as far as she can see...

the only question she must ask herself is :

"how far am i willing to look?"

This devoutly religious farmer starts to experience turbulent times.  He has a bad crop one year, and the bank calls in his loan, so he's scrambles to make ends meet.  He tried to stay upbeat and positive, knowing God will take care of him and it will all work out.

Then his barn burns down with all his equipment inside.  Yet, he tries to stay upbeat and positive, knowing God will take care of him and it will all work out.

Then his wife comes down with pneumonia and dies.  Yet, he tries to stay upbeat and positive, knowing God will take care of him and it will all work out.

Then the bank confiscates his farm for being behind on the mortgage, and his only daughter runs off to Hollywood to be a porn star.  This is finally too much, and he gets on his knees and cries out, "God, why me!?!?!"

God replies, "I don't know.  There's just something about you that pisses me off."

BTW, if the Christians want to help Britney, they better hurry up before the Scientologists get a hold of her.
