It's an interesting problem to consider. I've done a lot of dance pieces in NYC and lived there part time for many years, but I don't remember any particular problems with RF beyond the usual urban thing. Is it an issue? Maybe that studio was right next door to a transmitter.

well it definitely can be a problem.
at The Record Plant, there were 2 studios on the ground floor and 2 on the 10th floor.
The 10th floor mixroom had a little overdub room attached and it had a window in it.
You could look out that window straight at the Empire State Building (with its transmitter antennae).
It was only about 1/2 a mile away, and a straight shot.
so, for example, everyone knew that if you used an 87 in there, you had to run it on its batteries or the phantom would pick up all this RF.
I'd forgotten about the Ramport Helios desk.
Was it still in there when John Jansen did some of Crime Of The Century? or had they already put in the Neve?
(The Ramport Neve, of course, ended up at Bearsville)
